Title: Fuel tank sending unit filter
Post by: r4pinto on May 19, 2008, 04:58:07 PM
I have a 1977 Pinto that the fuel pump sending unit filter has been long since destroyed. I am looking at replacing it so I can keep some of the crap out of the gas tank, but when I called Ford I was told parts for the Pinto are long since obselete.

My question is, where can I find one at? Any help is appreciated.

You need to know the size tube that it fits on 3/8" or 5/16".
All Ford dealers can order them THEY ARE NOT OBSOLETE.
Part numbers for the filter sock:
D1FZ9A011A = 5/16"
D1AZ9A011A = 3/8"

Part# for the float = COAZ9202B

Part# for the o'ring gasket = COAF9276A

I am going to assume you mean the little 'sock' (for lack of a better term.) I have not bought one to confirm this, but the ones for a mid sixties Mustang look identical to the one that fell apart on my 76 'Stang II.  I can only surmise that they are the same for Pintos, as, just like any other major corporation, a LOT of the smaller parts stay the same, sometimes for several decades.

Paddock parts lists one for 5/16" inlet @ $6.95 with a 'D1' part number, but they do not have a picture of the item online.  I am pretty sure that it's the one though.

Mustangs Unlimited has them for 5/16" and 3/8" inlet, but they want $21.95 a piece.

I'll try those numbers, but I was just going by what I was told when I called the dealer today. They wouldn't even look up the parts. They just flat out told me the parts are obsolete. I shoulda tried someone besides loser Ricart Ford.

Thats where I got mine(sending unit). Last year I had the gas tank refurbished, it had a small hole which needed welding. While that was being done I figured it may need a new one.  You'd be surprised how many parts are compatible  :lol:
