I just got a 1978 pinto cruiser wagon. It is need of help but is restorable. It came with a 1975 mustang V6 and tranny. and is pretty much a complete car. Now my problem is that I got it to tubb out and build a street car! But my father (like every father) brings up the point about how rare there getting. What to do? I also found a complete running family wagon with the correct motor and tranny and every part to restore the cruiser. I am not in to pinto's all that much so my questions are restore or rod? is it worth the time and money? what are the cruisers worth? how rare are they? If anybody can offer suggestions or answer's these it would be much appreciated.
post up some pictures... lets see it.
if you can't post em' send to this email cookieboystoys@yahoo.com
let's see if it's an original CW or a conversion...
interior/dash/speedo/console pictures will tell alot...
OK, I will do that this afternoon. It has 3 guages on the dash and a tach in the cluster. It also has a center console which of the pics I have seen I have yet to see one of those. It has been repainted but the title say's grey and the interior is all red. I am not at home right now but I post pics in a couple of hours. I got the car fom a family member , he has had it in a garage for the past 15 years. It is filthy but in great shape. No Rust. It was sitting in a diiferent garage untill a tornado destroyed the town of hallam,NE. The tornado took the garage and EVERYTHING in it, but the wagon and only breaking the windsheild and a few small dents. He did tell it was a cruiser. Thanks for the respose. Any info is helpful. Thanks
sorry it say's my pic files are to large
did you try to send to my Yahoo email? if you did and it said to big try sending only a couple at a time.
C/W's are somewhat rare, but they still don't catch BIG money; very few Pintos do. I don't think you will lower it's value as much as change it's market; as a matter of fact, you might even raise its value depending on what and how you do things.
Am I saying go ahead and tub it? No, not at all. I am not saying you shouldn't either; its your car. Maybe you can do something in the middle if you have reservations about cutting up the car?
I have built a few turbo Pintos but I have done as minimal to the car as possible to do it, BUT THATS JUST ME.
Yes, they all had a center console, but that is not saying that the one in your car is factory; post a photo. Also, Ford sold Pintos with grey outside and red inside.

here's the pictures twister sent me... resized to fit
one more...
I would say restore
hey, thanks for resizing my pics. I am not that patient with computers.
no problem, happy to help.
looks like a complete cruiser to me with a slightly modified (shortened) mustang II center console.
kind of rough... you will need to "love it" to restore to original condition...
if it was in better original condition... save it but...
already been painted, has a non-factory stripe...
body looks solid and if the floor boards are good...
spruce it up and hot rod it a bit is what I would do...
go with your original plan... that "is" what you wanted to do...
what you want is what will get done... if you know what I'm saying...
what's the condition of the driver wagon you know of/could get?
Somebody added a Mustang II console.
I'm going to take another gander because I'm either going to add a Mustang II or Merkur console to mine.
Well I know restoring it wouldn't be that difficult. you know once I get through the inch of dust. And the mountain of mouse droppings inside. The other wagon is the brown one on ebay. It is about 150 miles from me. I am stongly considering it.
I have never seen bolts in a Pinto rear bumper like that.
