Title: '74 Pinto Frame Mounts for Engine mounts
Post by: Crunluath on May 18, 2008, 03:00:11 AM
Howdy Y'all.... I'm brand new to this forum and have a question.
    I have a 1974 Ford Pinto Runabout, with a 2.3 and a C-4 tranny with the stock 6.5 (?) differential.
I took everything out of the engine compartment (including the engine!) to prep for painting and noticed that in my zeal to get the job done, I didn't keep track of which side the motor mounts came from.
What I mean is... on the frame mounts one mount is taller than the other, and then on the engine side mounts one side is different than the other.  Anybody have any idea of what goes where? I feel kind of silly having to ask and I probably could try mounting the bare engine block, but if any one knows I'd really like to just know which side is which for the frame mounts.

Whoo hoo!!! The paint is done on the engine compartment... now I can start putting things back together.
The only thing I'm missing is the windshield washer resevoire and pump motor.  ;D
Btw what's the switch with the red button for?

Found my window washer resevoire, got lucky. Still had it after four moves and 20 years.

If you're talking about the red button that I think you're talking about, it's an override for the starter interlock system which kept the engine from starting unless the seat belts were fastened.  I'm pretty sure it was a one-year (1974) thing.  My '74 had it when I got it new and over the 2 1/2 years I owned it, I think I had to push the override button on only two or three occasions.  My guess would be that it was long ago disabled or bypassed, as it was a terrible nuisance.

Thanks !
I've always wondered what in the heck it was for, during the time I've owned the car, I've probably pushed the button at least once each time I had the hood up, but it's only ever "clicked" twice.  I've never had the car not start for me when I wanted or needed it too.
