Here's some shots of the Pinto I'm getting in a couple weeks
another
another
would you believe... another??
what can I say?? I got more
Only a couple more
only 2 more after this
I know she aint pretty, but it's gonna be a work in progress
... and last but not least. ... This car is located a couple hours from me, and the owner is being real cool about it taking me a couple weeks to get the money for it. It's only costing me $360, and best yet, it runs.... Well, what do y'all think?
Looks okay, for the most part.
Lotsa rust though....
Most of all, if you're happy and enjoy the project, don't worry about what anyone else thinks.
Thanx
I know the guy has 2 front fenders and 2 doors, as well as a hatch that are all in alot better shape than what's on the car right now.
Also, it had bad valve stem seals which he replaced for me, and also the cam was bad, so he is replacing it with a new one and new rockers.
The price was 300 but with the cam he told me if I pay half the cost of a new cam, he'd get it and put it in.
It does need 2 wheels, as the one's on the front are going to another car, and there's gonna be 2 cragers on the front, but I've already tracked down some wheels for it.
i like that paint scheme nice pinto !!
Good for you Matt. You seem to be ready for the work it might need.
Yeah, I sure hope I am anyways.... You can't see it in the pic, but the car has a factory sunroof... From what the owner told me the glas shattered, so he replaced it with plexiglass, and sealed it, but I plan to find a replacement.
I know that'll be hard but I should be able to find one
Also, should I put steel wheels with hub caps, the styled steel wheels, or stick with the alloy wheels? I have found a set of 4 alloys, but they dont have caps with them.
Personally, I'd stick with the alloy wheels, especially since you already have a set. Hubcaps just don't go with hoodscoops...it's like a wearing shiny tuxedo shoes with a jogging suit.
ya got a point there.... so tell me...
is there a way to tell if the hood scoop is factory? He told me it is just bolted on, so I'm just curious
I'd say it's an aftermarket piece.
I don't believe that hood scoops were "factory accessories" on the Pinto, but I could be wrong.
Still, hood scoop or no, I personally prefer the alloy wheels with that sporty 2-tone paint (if you keep the scheme for the repaint).
Yeah,
I see what you mean.
Unfotunately the guy that was selling the wheels decided to sell someone the whole car, so the alloys he has are out. He does have a set of 4 styled steel wheels with the center cap, and trim ring, so if he gets back with me, I'm gonna get those for now.
Atleast I'll have a set of matching wheels on the car.
I'm not too sure though if I'll stick with the paint scheme or not.
I finally picked it up!!! The car was in a little rougher shape than I thought it was, but it got me almost home... the battery died with 60 miles to go... new battery, and she fired right up.
I'm gonna really enjoy working on this car alot... I'll keep you guys up to date to what goes on.
Hey all, another update.
I got the RF fender put on the car last night, and it's starting to look real good. As of now, I have the whole front end exterior replaced. both fenders, and hood are on the car, and it's starting to look really good. I plan on replacing the doors and hatchback within the next week, and then start fixing the rust at the back of the car... As for the interior I just got to rewire the oe radio to work in place of the cheap autdiovox radio they put in, then the interior will be in good shape.
I'll get some pix up of it soon...
