One of the axle bearings is making noise at freeway speeds. I pulled the acle from my 79 Bobcat parts car thinking I could just swap it. The axles are different. The early axle have less splines. So I went calling around for a new bearing and nobody had a listing for one. The bearing from the bobcat looks the same but I am not sure about the ID. Pintony, maybe you can answer this for me? Will other year axle bearing work?
Hey TIGGER,
RWP30YYR TIMKEN Ball Bearing.
Maybe you could find a good axle and swap the bearing and axle??
From Pintony
BTW the bearing changed in 1974, so only the 71-73 will work.

Thanks PIntony, I will be heading to Napa shortly.
It took two guys looking for 20 min but I think I got the right bearing. According to the book these guys used the bearing is the same for all years for the 6 3/4. l will find out for sure tomorrow when I go to my friends shop to install it.
Hey TIGGER,
They should be looking in the BRAKE section NOT the driveline section.
The BIG BLUE FORD book shows 2 different part numbers the second number starts at 1974.

I know these guys can help you if you strike out at NAPA.
