O.K. How about a 2.3 with a ported head, 9.5:1 compression, .420 roller cam,. full/mid length headder, Ported lower 4 hole intake off a F.I. car mated via a special adaptor plate to a Holley 660 center squirter? The Holley is like a mini-Dominator all 4 holes open and receive fuel equal. Each venturi will feed its own runner. It should be like an individual runner type carb set up. Might make some power. A friend in L.A. wants to try making the adapter. Might be a year or more before I can get to this one but I have all the parts except the cam and adapter right now. Only other problem will be putting it in a Pinto made for a 2.0. Then a five speed (Have it) an 8" Pinto rear (have it) with 4.11s and I might have a very fast fun car.
What do you guys think?
Turbo and nitrous are future ideas too.
sounds like a pretty awesome idea have fun with that. Im not totally sure but im thinkin theres gonna be some Fab. work in ur future for mounting the 2.3 in that car unless you have a 74 and up car. (someone here should know something about this) I was going to do the same swap on my 72 pinto. But with a 2.3L Turbo.... Then I voted against it and said 3.8L Supercharged!!! lots of Fab work in my future
My friend says it will not be too hard to fab a 4-BBL adapter. As for motor mounts we'll see. There are plenty of donor cars here. The 3.8 sounds like fun. I think I remember that from another thread. Make some sub-frame connectors. Those motors put out 315-330 LB/FT of torque in stock form. My friend has a T-Bird SC that's very heavily modified and it made over 300 HP at the wheels at around 5400 RPM running 14 or so PSI. Cant remember the torque but it was approaching 400.
