Title: Hibbing Shifter Car Show - 1st Sunday June 2008
Post by: Cookieboystoys on May 02, 2008, 10:43:38 PM
This weekend I will be going to check on the 73 and get it ready to bring home soon.

I can't wait  ;D

First car show of the season I plan to attend is the local Shifters Car Club Show the 1st Sunday in June.

I'm thinking I will be taking 3 of my cars... 73 Runabout, 77 Cruising Wagon and the 78 Runabout.

here's the video I made from last year --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URLVE4869mY

I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to make the drive to come this far North but if anyone is interested I would be happy to play host. Show starts early and I think it's all done around 2pm. I have drivers for 2 of the cars but may be looking for someone to drive the 3rd, it's a stick - reason I'm having issues finding a driver  ???  It's a nice little show outside with music, food vendors, shade trees...

Anyhow... the 73 is really the only "show" car, the 78 looks good from a distance but bondo and macco paint do show up close but the interior is sweet and the wagon while looking good in pics is well... a project underway. I saw rough cars there last year, just a local little show so I figure what the heck.

I think it will be funny to see the faces when they see 3 Pinto's side by side.

If close and want to have a little mini-meet/Pinto get together... come join the fun  ;D

It's Home!!!

Saturday it was raining... then it turned to sleet / snow... ARG!!

next morning the 78 had a layer of ice covering it and the grass was frozen...

The 120 mile trip home was cooler... even some lakes still have ice cover...

Gotta Love Northern Minnesota !!

first show of the year in 3 weeks - June 1st

I didn't make it to the Hugo, MN car show on Memorial Day. Big storm moved thru the state and hit Hugo really hard, tornado, many houses destroyed, 2 year old dies... just a terrible mess.

The Blacksmith Lounge, where the show was to be held, had a note on their web site this morning they didn't have any damage and the show was still on but... not sure if it was actually held.

Thoughts and prayers go out to those in Hugo, and especially the Prindle family for the loss of a son, daughter now in stable condition and father badly injured...

The Hibbing Shifters Car Show - 1st Sunday June 2008

It was a fun weekend. Saturday night after the cars were cleaned up and ready to go I cooked steaks and brats with all the goodies and then we went up town for the warm up for Sundays car show... the uptown cruise night. Took lots of pictures, even got to use my neon's on the 73 at the cruise... I never get to use them durn things :o)

I have the cruise night video done...

see video here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbKScjA2C14

also made a video for the only other Pinto I saw this weekend.. very interesting car.. and for sale..

see video here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3YkgENAzEg

We got up Sunday morning and almost had to cancel going to the show. The 73 developed issues with the starter, I spent about 45 minutes of panic trying to figure out what to do (little  :wow: in there too) and then I fixed it and off we went. Only 30 minutes late. Temp hit 75 and it was partly cloudy with a nice breeze... a really nice day for the show. I had on my cafe press PCCA shirt and new PCCA hat, PCCA yard sign was planted between the cars and the fire extinguisher in place. Lot of Pinto talk, people looking at the cars and commenting. Loads of fun. I have to say a lot of people seemed to really liked the 78, it's my kids favorite. A few asked where the wagon was. The show was scheduled to run till 4 but a few sprinkles and they handed out awards early (I won a $100 cash prize! and a road atlas in the random drawing) and everyone split in case the rain got worse. 3:30 and the show was all done, didn't get any more rain till late in the evening. All in all a very nice "car" weekend and show.

Update!!! Car Show Video Added
