Title: Pinto comment from Mav guys at Knotts
Post by: popbumper on May 02, 2008, 12:22:08 PM
The guys on the Maverick site (www.maverick.to) are ticked about the few Mavericks that showed up at Knotts. In fact, one guy came out and said "where were all the Mav's - there were like 20 Pintos". I took the liberty of telling him that there were actually 34 Pintos - and that the Mav guys should be ashamed.... :evil:

Pintos Rule, but lets not forget we are all on the same team.  And you shouldn't razz the middle child too much, they tend to go postal. :lol:

       I am thinking I should have found a way to tow my Pinto down there behind my Grabber Maverick. Then I could have helped both causes. I play both sides. I think it's much better to have one of each :)

How about a Pinto with a Maverick 8" rear?

I agree...

I want a nice early maverick grabber and a cobra mustang II to go with my Pinto's

maverick = 3rd time I drove a car, put it in a ditch  ;D

mustang II = buddy drove one in high school, many miles logged in the passenger seat

   I definitely think I am Ford rich. I have a 72 4-Speed Pinto with the trunk and the 2.0. I would have ordered it that way..... Had I not been a few months old at the time :) Also have a 72 Grabber Maverick. V-8 (Now a) 5-Speed. 71 and 72 were the two best years for both IMO. They never got any lighter and never got any prettier.

dholvrsn: My Pinto is getting a Pinto 8" rear. But the Mav rears had 5 lug, nice!
Do they swap directly? I thought the Maverick rear was More narrow. I had to shorten a 70 something big V-8 family car 9" rear for my Maverick.

My two 72 Fords eyeball each other suspiciously across the driveway. The Maverick wants disk brakes and a rack and pinion steering like the Pinto. The Pinto wants sway bars and the horsepower to nuke the tires off for a quarter block like the Maverick. I will help them both achieve their dreams.

Poor Mav guys! Old girl friend had a  Comet [ granma's version of a Mav!]. My brother had a 73 V8 maverick he fixed up good looking cars but who can get over the disaster of a dash? You need a net to keep anything on that tray thingy under the dash! Fun to watch though. Hey punch it ! Then watch the rain of cassette tapes make there way towards the rear of the car. Oh no I just realized I have a 88 Ranger with a similiar disaster on the passenger side of the dash! No big deal stab the gas in that nothing even budges in that cubby hole!
