Title: Took the turbo Pinto to the track!
Post by: Killer74 on July 13, 2004, 10:49:21 PM
ran a few 7.90's (1/8th mile) with some 1.60 60' times....I thought that was pretty good. Tried to turn it up a little and the 8" rear end let go! (exploded the 3rd member)

On the few good passes it pulled the front tires about a foot on the launch and lifted them again when I hit second!

I've been wondering how well my rearend is going to hold up once I've got my motor in.  Sounds like I should expect a nice BOOM! eh? ;D

the STAGE III head mods should make up a bit for the lack of displacement ;)

dude...that 2.0's lookin good!

I launched on too much boost, the good passes I set the 2 step at 4000rpm and launched at 6psi. The "carnage" pass I moved the 2 step to 5000 and launched at around 20psi! Track was pretty sticky too!

A 7.90 1/8 is about a 12.0 flat 1/4 mi. what was your speed?
You must have had a week center section. I have floged my 8 inch behind slicks, launching at about 3500 rpm at 10 lbs and shifting at 6500 at 22 lbs. No probblems.

speed was low 90's

I've run 110 in the 1/4 before but that was without the nitrous.

I have an 8" with a mini spool and 4.11's WC T-5 with a stock replacement clutch

I have a real close e/t to your 1/8 I ran one time. It was a 7.905 @ 95 mph and a 12.07 @ 115.5 MPH. My 11.8 1/4 mi run was a 7.59 1/8th but the speeds were all off due to melting a plug at 1/2 track and shutting it doun at 3/4 track. ( wonder what it would have done with a good plug???)
