Title: Tires
Post by: tim 1223 on May 01, 2008, 11:32:38 AM
Hello, I am looking for new tires for the Pinto.  I currently have Winston winner GT tires ( 175 70r 13) on it now.  I like these tires, but I can't find them in Minnesota.  Does anyone know of somewhere to get some.  Or some new tires that are similar.  I like the raised white letters on them, and they look sporty.   I have 13 inch rims. Any ideas? Thanks Tim

Seems like I read that the Winston tire is involved is a serious LAW SUIT.
Most likely all re-called my manufacturer.

Thanks for the info.  Those cooper tires look just like the winston tires.  I think that I will buy a set.  As for the Winston law suit I also read that they filed for bankruptcy. Thanks again.

I tired to buy some of the Cooper Cobra gt 175 70 R13 only to find that they have been discontinued.  I called about 50 tires stores and went to another 50 web sites and no one can get them anymore.  Any other ideas on some sporty looking tires with raised white lettering? Any help would be great. The search continues. Tim

I'm going to get the 205 60 13's that the site I listed above offers (I hope they aren't discontinued too) and have checked/compaired them in size to the 175 70 13's and they will not cause the speedo to be off much (less than 1mph at 60mph)

they are wider than the 175's but the same height

I have also seen the 205 60 13's on ebay but price with shipping is higher than the site I posted above

This is a tire lettering pen that I purchased from the local Harley shop part # 98625. Below are picks that sow the first attempt at lettering. The white smudge on the tire is aluminum polish. Harley-Davidson recamends that you use their wheel & tire cleaner # 94658-98,and thee Harley Black #94628-05 however the Haley black is no longer available. Have some tooth picks handy for what gets out of line.

 :read:
Tire Rack has all kinds of 175 R13s none of them have raised white letters but you could get the white grease pencil like we use to use to dress up the white letters when you rubbed on the curb.  Good Luck
