As usual i have rejected all that's new (and Foreign) and technically advanced and searched till i found and early Pinto.
i just bought a low mileage 73 and it's been nearly 30 years since i owned my last of 3, but plan on having a bit of fun with it. Since iwant to really use the car i was wondering if the later 5 speed from a 2.3 Mustang bolts to the 2.0 and physically fits the pinto tunnel. thanx for any help or links, crossy
Yes, it will fit, but you need the T5 bellhousing and a set of stepped dowels. The T5 shifter will also be about an inch farther forward than the stock four speed
I have the dowels. PM me if you want a pair.

Below is a link showing how Turbopinto72 handled the bellhousing top two bolt mismatch.

Thats kool. I mentioned the top bolt issue to him in the PMs.

someone emailed me a little while back about the t-5 swap i was doing. they said the bell housing out of a mustang wouldnt clear the firewall due to the 2 high mount bolts. he was building a 71-3 and mine is a 74. it dropped right in mine like it was ment to be, other than the shifter issue. was this an issue with the 71-3 pintos?
