Title: what would you do?
Post by: turbo74pinto on April 13, 2008, 11:15:48 AM
my funds are starting to run dry to finish the pinto.  i still need: wastegate, blow off valve, fuel pump, and tweecer.  i have the american racing libre rims with new tires that will not be going back on the car.  a big part of me doesnt want to sell them because they are almost flawless and very cool.  but the other part of me is saying, will you ever use them?  what would you do?  hold onto them or sell them?

If you are never going to use them then sell them. Someone else can enjoy them and at the same time you can get some money out of them. I've learned in the past that if you keep something because you might use it someday, 9 times out of 10 you won't use it.

Save your money!
Unless you are running above 18pounds boost the BOV is not needed...
I run 4-10 pounds on the street and can not keep the 225 50s from spinning...

i hear you there.  my shop is full of stuff because of that, "i might need it someday."  and im sure someone could actually use them for racing or driving.  i personally think they sucked for steet driving because they were bias plied.  i couldnt find a radial that size.  they liked riding in the ruts on the freeway too.  made lane changing fun.  theyd be great for someone doing an scca car or something simaler.

my base tune will be set off about 17-18# or so.  25+ with race fuel.  keep in mind that i do have slicks for when i need them at the track.  ill be trying to keep my foot out of the boost for street driving.  key word here....TRYING  ;D

Unless you are running a MODIFIED fuel injection system you will not be able to run those kinds of boost.
If you are running carbed? Forget IT!!

If you are running those boost numbers and a manual tranny, you will NEED either a BOV or BPV (and a functioning I/C of some sort). If you have a basically stock Ford EFI 2.3T engine management system (metered air), you SHOULD run a BPV.

blow through maf, holset hy35w, 46# injectors for now, la3 with tuner (tweecer rt is my plan), spearco fmic.  shortblock is a studded stock until i get better at tuning.  keep in mind, stock 88 turbo coupe was 15 or 16lbs on premium setting.  thats the car i stripped.  race trim will not happen until i get the shortblock built with stronger parts and i have a better understanding on eec tuning.  that engine should handle 17-18 lbs stock without a problem.  once i understand the tuning better, parts will get stronger and boost will go higher.  but like i said, no race trim til im more comfortable with the eec.

but anyhow, i guess ive gotten rid of too much stuff that turned into...bob, why did you sell that?  but at the same time i have to be more realisitic and just get rid of them to someone who will use them for something other than....well, a stack of rims/tires.  like r4pinto said.

that dang pack rat in me.

  WTB LIBRA MAGS

WTB a set (4) of American Libra 13X7 mags. Must be 4 1/4 (4.250) bolt circle. Would consider a set of uni-lug wheels too. These are the old school four spoke Daisy mags used in the 60/70s by the under 2.5L trans-am cars.
