Title: Pinto sportsman?
Post by: Farmboy on July 05, 2004, 11:09:25 PM
Went to a old boys house today with a pinto parked out front, got to BS with the oldtimer to see if he wanted to sell it, he said it was a 71 sportsman model. I dont recall that model , it has the chrome strips running down the hatchback like the old chevy nomads.
I like the car cause it has the finder and hood I need. He wants a $100.00 for it. The best part he has 2 seats reupholster for it and has not put them in.
do you guys think this is a deal or what. can a person put the small bumpers on a 74 model.  thanks

Definitely go for it!

You may not want to part it out, though...this may be a rare(r) trim package well worth completing the restoration on.

I bought a 1971 new through the military Post Exchange, had it delievered to me in England.  I had what you are describing.  It was called a SPORT RUN ABOUT, HAD THE CHROME STRIPS ON THE BACK.  SEE IF I CAN FIND A PIC AND POST IT...

I bought the hatchback but just havent gotten it home yet. it's just going to be a parts car. Way to much rust for a rookie bodyman like me to tackle. I'll post a pic when  I get some film done.
