Ahhh..., at the risk of someone else snagging it, is this the clutch fork I need to convert my hydraulic T-5 to cable?

Hello Tom,
What Ford has a T-5 with hydraulic clutch???
From Pintony
Pintony,
Unless I'm using the wrong term (I might be???) I'm refering to the Transmission / clutch setup in my 88 Turbo Coupe. My understanding was that there is nowhere to put a clutch master cylinder in the Pinto and when I use the 5 speed out of the Turbo Coupe I'll need to convert to a cable. Is that correct?
Thanks, Tom
Hello Tom,
I use the T5 from the mustang.
I am un'aware that the T-coupe had the hydraulic clutch.
Someone chime in here???
From Pintony
My 86 1/2 Turbo Coupe used a quadrant cable setup so I am with Pintony, are you sure you have a hydraulic clutch in your car?. All the fox body Mustang's used basically the same quadrant cable setup so the fork you posted the link for is for a cable.
The rusted out 87 Turbocoupe that I scrapped had a hydraulic operated clutch. From other posts here, it seams it is a lot easier to convert to cable style clutch operation for transplant in to the Pinto.
For the conversion from hydraulic to cable operation, you need both the fork and bellhousing from a cable operated car. The Fox Mustang is the one easiest to find. There are some in depth posts here on this conversion that should be locatable with the search function. They provide details and the different options.
Are you talking about the 2.3 T-5 bell with the hyd. clutch?
If so, THAT fork MIGHT work DEPENDING on the bell you use (NOT a hyd one) and the part # of THAT fork (I did not look). It would also depend where the pivit is on the fork. One other thing, it would need modification to work with the Pinto cable as the 'ball' on the Pinto cable is much smaller; it's an easy fix, I did it to mine.
As mentioned the EASIST way to go is the "bellcrank" 2.3 T-5 Bell; it uses a very short fork. If you use it you will need to modify either the cable mount or the crossmember for cable clearance. If you can find a Mustang II 2.3 4spd (B-W) bell and fork, or a 79-81 2.3 4spd (B-W) bell (THAT fork MIGHT fit these bells). Either will direct bolt to the tranny and engine and you won't have any issues with the cable.
I started thinking that I saw all of this somewhere.........
