I was wondering if there is any good web information on Ak Miller cars. Back in the mid 70's an aquaintance use to have an early Turbo Pinto. I just remember it was blue with white side strips and has some "Spearco" scripting on it somewhere. I asked a mutual friend and he told me that as far as he knew it was George Spears personal car that he bought.
Now that Pintos are "popular" I was curious about the car he had. Well..., who ever thought Pintos would be fetching the money they do. So, I think you will understand why when he lost the Turbo around 1976 the car was converted to a 289. Sad but true. Sadder yet was I remember racing his lighter, bigger motor Pinto with my '64, 260 Falcon and beating him.

did the "spearco" look something like this?
Hey 71 pintoracer,
Those are really cool emblems!!!!
Thank you for shareing the photo!
Is that your Pinto in the photo???
Do you know if that is where the emblems were positioned? Under the Pinto emblem??

Yes, that is my car, here is another veiw, not sure how well you can see them
Hey 71 pintoracer,
Your car has got to be one of the nicest modified Pintos I have seen in a while...
Truely AWSOME
I could spend all night asking you questions about your Pinto.
But I will ask them in your other post as this is a bit off topic here.
To Wittsend,
I do not know about the Spearco Pintos but I have the Rocker cover the timming cover and the air filter made by Spearco.
I have 2 of the weiand manifolds but the one embossed with SPEARCO has eluded me.
I also have the Spearco emblems.

My recollection was that there was an emblem on the rear area inward from one of the tail lights. And at least on this car I think there was some strange grill work (sort of a chrome oval hoop) that followed the outline of the rear panel that the tail lights were mounted to. This is like 30 years ago so the memory is a bit dim.
Back then Pintos were the Toyota Corolla of the day, Automatics were for Grandma and turbos were odd. So his car was like "so what" to me. BUT, now I have great interest in it. How we mature. :-)
Tom
there is some info on the intake manifold on the ford pinto showcase website
Hello dave1957,
Thank you for the info.
I have seen this manifold many times on ebay but have been outbid &or not around to bid when item closes.
If anyone has this Spearco 4V manifold I would be interested in purchase or trade.
