Title: New to Pinto's
Post by: CliffH on March 18, 2008, 06:15:29 PM
Hello being new here.I am buying a '77 Pinto Wagon Friday,I haven't been to look at it but from the pictures it is worth the price of $300.00. It has a 4cyl engine with automatic trans. Did they only have 1 4cyl engine in 1977? Also what would be the cid? Looks like it might be good for a rebuild the body is in great shape and the interior is decent.

Thanks for your help,
Cliff

welcome to the site and congrats on your pinto!!  in 77 the only 4 banger was the 2.3, 140ci.

Thanks, I will be able to do more research on how to make it quicker and hopefully get good gas mileage.

Thanks for the welcome and the links. A friend of mine who knows quiet a bit about the 2.3 is going to come over so we can go through it and fix whats wrong with it.Which will give me time to find a turbo engine to go in. It has a auto in it,I hope I don't have to change to a manual trans.

Welcome to the club Cliff. Just remember to do the car how you want it and it will be great. Yes, a turbo and EFI are definately the ticket for your ride. Lots and lots of great info on this site and lots of good people to help you through the process.

:welcome:

Rob
