Hey everybody,
Well its been allmost a year since I have visited this sit :hypno: due to the fact that last year I kinda just dropped my pinto project for other things and the motor sat in peaces although all ready to be put togehter i just never got to it. recently I decided that I really want to get myt pinto back running considering i haave had the car for about a year and a 1/2 now and never even driven it , but last week i took the time to put the motor back together. Now the engine is all together and looking great wating for my to come home and put it in the pinto. The problem i face is that i really dont want to stuff the old automatic tranny back it, I would really like to stick a 4 speed in it if anyone is selling one i would be very interested, I live in N.Y. so if you got a 4spd and are anywhere in N.Y. or anystate next to i would like to talk.
Also anytips on how to convert to a manual would be greatly appreacated
Thanks

I am in CT. If you have maunal brakes I have everything you need to convert to a 4spd (less the driveshaft, maybe). PM me for more details.

welp sense your in NY it doesn't help but i got a 4spd im in CA
DJ, I have a '78 4spd sitting around. It's yours if you want it. I'm in SW Ohio, but I make trips out that way. LMK.
You'll need a clutch cable, a pedal assembly, some gear fluid and a shift knob.
I think the drive shaft will fit. You'd have to take some measurements and compare it to a similar car. Mine's a wagon, I think mine has a longer shaft.
Whats the brakes have to do with it?

Manual vs. power brakes. They have different pedals/pedal assemblies.
*EDIT* I figured Bill would be the one to know the most about it.
It has been my experience that, at least for the later Pintos, the only thing different between P/B and M/B in the pedals is the brake pedal itself. The braket that holds the pedals has the holes for the clutch pedal, and both brakes.
Also, the speedo cable is longer for the 4spd cars (I have one of them for him too).
