Title: scored some mouldings from a local bone yard
Post by: turbo74pinto on March 14, 2008, 11:58:05 AM
so i finally made it out to a junkyard about 40-50 miles from me that had some pintos a few years back.  almost all of them have since been scrapped except for one.  a 74 runabout just like mine!  but this one had more options, wood interior trim, more chrome, rear window vents....stuff like that.  lucky for me, it still had some of the chrome i needed.  i was able to score a passenger door belt moulding that has the cut out for the sport mirror, antenna mast, some interior pieces parts, and most of the mouldings that go around the tail lights and trunk.  the only chrome im missing now, is the moulding that goes on the trunk.  it also has all the chrome on the rain gutters and the door posts, but i didnt want those.  there were still some useable parts on it.  im gonna try to get back there when the weather breaks and it dries up a little.  theres a few more things i my pick off of it yet.

I would try to carefully remove the gutter trim off the car. That stuff is rarely seen and I know there's a couple members here looking for it.

Good steering wheels and shift boots (if it's a stick shift) are also difficult to find.

If it has a stabilizer bar underneath that runs from one wheel to the other try to get that and all the mounting hardware. I believe that just about everyone wants one of those. Myself included.

there was no steering wheel and i think the shift boot was gone.  id probably have to get a shovel to get to the sway bar but ill check on all the above when i get back there.  ill also try to grab that chrome stuff.
