I am cleaning up a little 72 HB I picked up recently and I have a couple questions, There was a set of aftermarket gauges installed but neither the oil pressure or temp gauge worked. I yanked them out however I am not sure what the original sending units look like nor which wires connect to them. Can someone post some pictures of the temp sending unit and the oil pressure sending unit? Also can I get a picture of the starter solinoid as well? The amp meter was spliced into some wires, and I want to make sure everything is connected properly. Thanks guys....
OK... I'll try. if the car wasn't in storage I would get you better pics but this was the best I could do...
my 1973 2.0L
pic 1 = starter solinoid
pic 2 = oil pressure hookup
pic 3 = temp hookup
I "think" temp and oil hookups are right... "if" I don't have em' backwards ;D cookieboy is not a mechanic ;D
anyhow... both sending units on my car have screws that come out and the "L" shaped connector just slips on and looks similar to the one I have listed as "wire for temp"
Hey Tigger,
The oil is on the drivers side and the water is on the passengers side.
You did not post if your 72 had the a 2.0 or 1.6 engine
Here are the part numbers for the 2.0 sending units if you have need.
Part # SW-983 MOTORCRAFT Temperature Sending Unit
Part # SW-1311 MOTORCRAFT Oil Pressure Sender/Switch
Thes numbers are for the idiot lights not guages.

Thanks Guys, that seems to make sense. Can someone post what the idiot light oil pressure unit looks like?
Pintony, it is a 2.0L
