Okay! I am curious of where I might be able to find a stock pinto. I want a running one for cheap really.. I am a new driver and pintos facinate me. They just look SO sleek! I dont want to race or have a upgraded pinto just a stock one that runs really... Anyone have any tips?
Edit- I live in Missouri, The Poplar Bluff Area! Thanks!
:welcome: SeasonalEclipse,
Please state your location. Maybe some one near you will read your message and you will find the Pinto of your desire...

There we go, I updated with location! Thanks!
Bump! Anyone have any tips? I plan to look at a junk yard later today to see if I can find anything, but I know if I find one there it will need a lot of work in all likelyhood.
Have you tried Craigslist? ---> http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html
Keep in mind... not a lot of them out there for sale and so finding one down the street is kind of hard. Might have to look farther away from home to find the one you want. Good Luck ;D
You could also check Ebay...
sent you an email with some links to ones I found on Craigslist in your general area...
Thanks for the links! Looking at them right now.
Wanting a "running" (and I assume you mean decent) Pinto and a "really cheap" Pinto are two things pulling against each other. I bought mine about 3-1/2 months ago. I paid $850 for it and it cost me $425 to trailer it home. Might I add that the seller threw in a free plane ride to get to the car. Given the short time span to get the flight it had a $150 value. The flight up and the drive back (U-Haul truck and trailer) were 800 miles total.
My Pinto did run (barely) and has taken many hours to be reasonably serviceable. It will be many times more to adapt the Turbo 2.3 and 5 speed. I have no regrets and feel that I got what I paid for and the price was fair. I haven't seen anything else available since then - for the money, I would have purchased.
While Ford made over 3-1/2 milion of them it seems like between Ebay and Craig's List that maybe 4-7 Pinto's are available nationwide at any given time. Anyway, all the best in your search, but as has already been said, "your not likely to find one down the street." Finding it cheap and running will be even harder.

snap, well are there any other cars with that pinto body style? Cause thats what i really like about them, as I said I dont care what it srunning as long as its easy to fix or already running.
Mercury Bobcat... much more rare than a pinto buy maybe by some twist of fate there is one in your area.
Quotewell are there any other cars with that pinto body style?
No...There are no other cars with the Pinto body style...and believe me I have looked.
The desire to own a Pinto can certainly get the adrenalin rushing...but...stay focused and keep looking and save your money...there is a Pinto out there for you.

I've had excellent luck with eBay. I bought my Pinto there for $1009 and drove it home 165 miles without incident. It is mechanically sound but not without issues. So far, I have spent an additional $1500 on parts (quarter panels, bodyside moldings, walnut shift knob, trim rings, molded dash cap, and a Mustang II console) and haven't even started doing any actual work on the car yet. In addition to all that, it needs a dent removed from the hood, a total repaint, and front seats reupholstered; not to mention finding someone to weld those quarters on for me. Bottom line, the car runs good and is servicable as is, but I was intent on bringing it to a certain standard that I am happy with and this car offered me the best available "blank slate" to work with.
That said, the Pinto is my fifth eBay car purchase and I have been pleased with all of them. Generally speaking, if you do your research, exercise a little patience, and ask the right questions, you'll probably get exactly what you pay for. It's up to you to decide what you can afford and search/buy accordingly. Wishing you the very best of luck! :)
The best advice I can give is to take your time. I looked for over two years before I found the right car at the right price. I wasn't looking for a v8, but she was the car for me. When you see her you will know. :welcome:

YOU still have not bought my 72 wagon. Even though I've tried to sell it a few times.
Oh..., so that's how I got my '73. Seems to be the odd year out.
Pintony gets all the '71 and '72's, "the 71 and 72s are ALL MINE!!!!"
Everone else gets the the '74 and up, "U guys can buy all the 74-up Pintos you want..."
Did I break a 'law" by buying a '73? Are they the black sheep of the Pinto family? Are they excluded from Knott's? I think I'll call my car "Rodney," - after Dangerfield ::), not King :afro:. Though on second thought it is kind of beat up like King. :accident:

Hey Pintoches,
Your wagon is too rough for me.
It is much cheeper to find a Pinto in good condition and do a few mechanical repairs that to fully restore a Pinto in the condition that your wagon is in.
I already have too many project Pintos.

Hello Tom, I like the 73 Pintos.
Especially the ones with the Sports Accent Group package.
I almost bought your wagon it has a GREAT black interior. Will be a really nice Pinto wagon with a 3000.00 paint job. The only reason I did not buy it was I was told it did not run and the transport companys charge a premium for NON-running cars.
I would have totally bought your Pinto at the price you payed.
From Pintony
P.S. I bought this woody wagon instead of your wagon.
Pintony (and poster who wants a Pinto, - pay attention here),
Trust me, pictures are more deceiving that you know. Even taking into account the car is 34 years old I'd call the interior 6 or 7 on a scale of 10. While the interior is OK, it isn't what it was advertised as. The vinyl is peeling off the drivers seat, there is rust on some of the cloth and some cloth is separating. The worst part is someone took black paint and "touched up" the plastic and vinyl. At first I thought the glossy appearance was a spilled soda. The carpet looked OK, but crumbled when I removed it.
Regarding the transport, yea, I hear you. I was going to use one of them. However, I found most to be very shady. The Pinto actually did run, but I wasn't counting on the Transport Co. to be honest about that. When the seller offered a free air ticket to get the car I opted to rent the U-Haul truck and trailer. That was about the same price as a transport, but at least I felt in control of the situation.
The Pinto actually ran on three cylinders (50 MPH max with the petal to the floor). I drove it about 6 miles to U-Haul. Thankfully most was down hill. That was easier than navigating the streets of San Fransisco with a truck and trailer.
So..., in the end I found the drivers vent area to be rusted out. Geez, it was a real pain to get in there and weld in a patch (I didn't pull the dash). The passenger floor was shot. I made a replacement piece. The passenger rear was marginal. I POR-15ed it and the rest of the floor. I just finished pulling the fenders and dealing with old caulking leaking water into the interior.
The rear hatch seal area is rusted out too. I'm saving that for summer. So, the surface rust you saw in the pictures was really minor by comparison. I actually wet sanded the car with 1500 grit wet/dry, polished it and while no paint job, it significantly transformed the appearance.
There are a boat load of little things I've done, but I won't ramble on. But, again, - poster these are old cars. If you are not incline to fix things yourself then you will pay dearly to have others do it. To me it's a hobby, and I do ALL my own work.
Anyway, I'm still not sorry I bought it. For the money my feeling is I haven't seen anything better the past four months. By the way, you mentioned previously you had a tooth for the '73 grill. If I send you a stamped, self address envelope would that do it?
Tom
Hey Seasonal,
Have you seen this one
http://www.fordpinto.com/smf/index.php?action=classifieds;sa=view;id=7
I have seen it listed a few times, I no nothing about it, except it looks very clean and well maintained. I do not know if it is still for sale, but it is still listed on this site. Good Luck.
