I have both 42# and 35# injectors and want to ask about a adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Can I use an adjustable one that fits a 5.0 cause they are on ebay but cant find one for the 2.3. I want to run 20psi+ safely and want to know the best route. Should I just use the FMU setup or AFPR? I have had work done to the head such as porting, cam and what not so I want to push more air now/more hp. Need to know what to set the fuel at. I know I will have to lower the pressure for the 42#ers but do I even need them yet? Thanks in advance.
I have an adjustable pressure reg on my car and to be honest I really didn't need it. My injectors are 52s and it runs fine at 40lbs.
2point3turbo,
The folowing is based on reading past posts and not from experience. I believe Brad has set up his computer for the larger injectors, either a reprogrammed chip(?) or presently a programed Mega Squirt. I suspect you will need to set up your computer for the larger injectors for best results. Adjusting the fuel pressure down in order to run larger injectors with a stock programmed computer is not optimum. Using a FMU to get more fuel from the 35's may push a stock fuel pump past its limit at 20psi+ boost and does not give good air fuel ratio control. Using a wide band O2 sensor is useful when going beyond the factory stock operating parameters.
Try Turboford.org....You could mod a 5.0 AFPR to run a 2.3 Turbo......
