I'm curious, does anyone know if a Ford I6 170 or 200 cubic inch engine will fit in a pinto bay?
if you move the fire wall back.
put in a 300" motor out of a ford truck!
I would like to know more about your idea?
I have a few 3.3L inlines here, and I can say it would be tight due to the length

If I got a 302 to fit in my '79, I think you can get a 170 or 200 in there.
Yea I wasn't sure, I have a 66 mustang with a 200 ci one in there and I really like the engine, but I wouldn't know how to get it in there or if it would fit. I guess you'd have to get some motor mounts and see if you could stuff it in there. The thing about the V8's though is that the length of the engine isn't longer than 4 cylinders, whereas the 6 is all six lenghwise, so I don't know how it would work. Just thought it might be a cool idea.

Actually it is longer.

Even in the 74-80 cars, which have a longer engine bay than the 70/71-73, there isn't enough room to stick in the six banger. The firewall or the radiator support or both would have to be seriously modified along with the floorboard. It can be done and I think it would be cool if you used a 300 inch motor with three Webbers, lots of compression and a big tube header.
The guys at fordsix.com can tell how, because i thought about it myself.I would like to see it done. Some guys ran them in NHRA gas class in the 70s.I have never seen one for a street car.
back in the '70's my boss had a 300" six in a maverick with a turbo/propane that would eat my turbo pinto for lunch
How about a 169 Studebaker six? A lot of people who see mine assume that it's just a four....
