I did a tune up last week and I've always used Borg Warner caps, rotors and plugs for my ignition. Well this time I purchased a rotor of theirs from a Parts America store (Schucks here), but the rotor doesn't squeez onto the distributor shaft like they always have. I took it back and went through four different rotors, none of which hugged the shaft enough not to wobble. I just gave up and bought a Neihoff rotor because it grabbed the shaft somewhat, but not really tight like the old BW one did.
My question is, has anyone else had any problems with Borg Warner rotors? I've always used them on the car because they are nice performance parts and are cheaper than the Neihoff. They are also known as the Nascar select series of parts from Parts America. I wonder if I just happened to do a tune up during a bad batch release of rotors?
Hello Dave,
Maybe you dist. is an oddball and it is machined undersize?
maybe try a dab of silicone????
Dave1987,
Back in the days of my 2300 motor I think I had to use something in there to take up some space cause that rotor felt loose...I think I used a little peace of cardboard from a book of matches.

I always used the NAPA brand with the brass inserts (Echlin I think) and never had any problems.
Yeah, I like the borg warner rotors and caps because they use brass contacts and posts. I was thinking of possibly wrapping the mating shaft of the distributor withe electrical tape.
