??? ok guys here my problem. i bought this 79 ford courier ( i know it's not a pinto but it has the same motor i think). put in cold air induction took off smog crap. i didn't notice the popping but i do now that i think i have more power so i get on it. any way back to my q. when i get on it in 1-2 gear the eng revs up good shows good power then it hits a wall. it pops through carb and falls on it's face. i have a breakerless distro with the 4 magnetised ponits and a 4 pt start on the shaft. can anyone help me out.
on another point i was wondering if i could bolt up a 2.3 turbo out of the t-bird t-coupe. ??? ??? what do you think. if not >:( >:( i'm going rotary!!
It sounds to me like you either have a fuel delivery problem, causing it to run lean up top, or your valvesprings are weak and you are "floating" the valves.
Yes, the turbo will bolt up, but there is more to it than that. Are you planning to keep the carburetor or go with EFI? Does a Courier have sufficient clearance for a turbo without modifying any sheetmetal?
I don't have any turbo experience, so maybe someone else can chime in with more information on this.
i'm in the process of makinf cowl induction for my truck so clearance isn't an issue. as far as efi or carbed i'm not sure any help will be appreciated
