Is there a simple way to take the bracket off a junk yard pair of front seats and modify the Pinto buckets so that they recline ???? All the seats, panels and dash in my 80 are in good shape and I'm installing new carpet. I'd like to keep the stock seats if possible.

I couldn't see a simple way of doing it aside from finding some reclining seats and fitting them in there and then there might not be enough room behind the seat backs for them to go back. I was thinking just the other day how is your car is comming along???

Good to hear from you! My 16 year old Crown Vic daily driver died so I'm left with driving my 30 year old truck which runs great but mileage is not so great. I've been slowly working on assembling the 302 engine with the parts I want and have put the car assembly on hold until the beginning of March because I'm trying to buy a house with a built-in garage so I can work inside a heated space for a change!! Once everything is finally in one place instead of outside, family's basement, friends garage, the closets of my apartment, etc, then, hopefully, stuff should start coming together. As far as the seats go, I have a set of nice leather ones from a Dodge Conquest that may have to be donated to another project I have in the planning stages but I'm not sure yet. I looked at picture of some brackets for reclining seats and I might be able to unbolt, drill / weld a small bracket piece to the Pinto seats, and have them work. But, I could always use the Conquest seats until the other project gets off the ground which would probably be most logical.

I used a set of 77 Mazda RX7seats in mine...they look like they were meant for the car. black vinyl with Mustard and Black plaid inserts...both seats slide back and forth and both seats recline....I used the mazda backets so they could both slide and I had to make some small "L" shape brackets to mount to the floor, but they are solid and look and work great!

Man, all you need to go with that is the "Mod Top" that Mopar put on a limited number of vehicles in the late 60's, some shag carpet, a "foot" gas pedal, "Have a Nice Day" bumper sticker, a tie-dye T shirt with a pair of cordaroy pants and a bandanna and you will be the hippest cat on your block, dig. :afro: Outta-sight! (Can you tell when I grew up, LOL!)
