looking for the  depth measurment from a 3/4 speed  2.3 bellhousing from a 70's pinto/bobcat etc.
  that would be a measurment from the rear face (where the trans bolts up to the bell) to the front face (where the bell attatch's to the rear of the block)

any help would be great!

I can get it for you but the 2.3 was 74-80 and they were all 4-speeds. Just curious, Why do you need the measurement? U need it from the rear mating surface at the trans to the mating surface of the block?

 trying to adapt a B/W 3 speed (from a ford truck -mid 70's) to a 1989 2.3 ltr engine thathas a t5 on it now. My trans guy says the B/W trans he has won't bolt to a t5 bell. he also says that the trans input shaft is 1/2" shorter then a stock 2.3 ltr t5 inputshaft so I'd need a shallower bell and suggested a late 70's mustang II or pinto bell? I've been looking for a late 70's 2.3  4 spd bellhousing but at this point I'm not sure the late 70's 2.3's had the same bell to engine bolt pattern????

basically , in a nutshell, I need to know if I can even get a bell to put a B/W 3 or 4 trans to a late model 1989 2.3???? I want to get rid of the T5 but keep the newer engine.

here's the trans I want to adapt to a '89 ford 2.3 ltr, it's a mid 70's B/W 3 speed thats been shortened to 17" over all with a top exiting shifter .  it looks like an old  40's top loader and I need it for my champ car project,  the trans is between my legs and a T5 is to modern looking and way too long (the shifter is in my crotch lol).

I work 10's so give me a day or two to get it for you. I have a couple trans under my trailer.
