which motor mounts should be used to install a 302
into a 1976 pinto? i have been told to use 2 left side
mounts made for a 1968 mustang with a 289. my
drivetrain is a 1982 302,c4 transmission and a 9''. any
help in then area would be welcomed. thank you in
advance for your help.
Supposedly 2 left-hand mounts from a Mustang II King Cobra will also do the trick. That's what I'm planning on using to put a 302 in my wagon.
This is a quote from Underdog76 in a thread called "V8 Mount #s" (or something close to that) in the "Your Project" area:
QuoteFor anyone who needs or wants to know, the motor mount part # off of my dads 302 are D72A-6B032-AA.
These mounts are off a 78 King Cobra. It is important to note that they are both left side mounts, but they bolt right in. hope this helps someone...
One other member has ordered them from eBay for $45 including shipping. My local parts store can get them for under $12 each.

On this web page it says keep the right-hand motor frame support and mount and replace the left-hand frame support and mount with those from a V8.
To me, just using 2 left-hand motor mounts sounds a heck of a lot easier.

I am really interested in those motor mounts... what's your source?
The local parts store I deal with is Advance Auto. They quoted me a price under $12 for the mounts.
Sorry to be such a dummy... but the picture they show for the item doesn't look like the mount I need... (See picture)

This was the page I was using:
look up page for Advance Auto, 75 Mustang II V8 (http://www.partsamerica.com/PartDetails.asp?SourceArea=&SourcePage=SEARCHRESULTS&MfrCode=ANH&MfrPartNumber=2566&PartType=27&PTSet=A)
Could you do me a huge favor and look up the part number through their website so I can make sure I'm getting the right one?
I'm using the hooker kit, so it needs an east-west bolt ability (from the rear to the front) instead of the studs heading south.
That picture looks similar to the 302 mounts for my F150 pickup, only with two threaded studs instead of one.
The mounts another member used are '78 King Cobra engine mounts, part #D72A-6B032-AA.
The Parts America website doesn't have the King Cobra option available, but I went into the local Advance Auto store and they located the mounts on their computers.
Well, I went to the local Advance Auto, West coast version, called "Schucks Auto Supply" over here. They had mounts listed for Mustang 2 V8... I ordered them, and when one came in, it turned out to be the part that bolted to the frame... when what I need is the part that bolts to the engine.
that looks like a picture of a tranny mount!
