Tonight we towed the car to the shop so tomorrow and sunday I'll FINALLY be able to start working on it (til we gotta drag it back to the parking lot @ my brother's place Sunday night)
She wasn't terribly happy about starting, and this poor 2.3 sure has been abused, but after a few minutes she was feeling much better. Took her out for a bit of donut action in the icy lot.. this is the most I've ever actually driven this car, and I just can't wait til I can drive her everyday!!
Some of the stuff I want to get done this weekend include replacing the negative battery cable, replacing yet MORE peanut bulbs/sockets (I've never seen a car with so many burnt out lights), changing one of the headlights with a freebie bulb I grabbed at a wrecking yard, (once she's on the road I'll buy 2 new ones.. working with a TIGHT budget here) trying out some seat covers/test fitting some Mustang seats - I have my doubts on them fitting but worth a try anyways, and just finally driving her around the big lot and getting a feel for her. I'll be bringing along the camera to get some new shots of her as well :) Also be replacing the highbeam dimmer switch if I get the chance.
Thus far I've replaced the rocker panel trim, got a snazzy new gas cap, new battery and positive cable, cleaned up the interior and removed the beauty trim rings.
Hello Ponygal,
Thanks for the up-date on your project..

It's fun when you finally get to drive em a bit and then start the work needed to get em' back on the road... good luck and may it all go smooth and cheap.
Sounds like you've gotten lots done to her. Looking forward to seeing some shots of the progress.
can i get some of ur motivation plz. lol. o and some more time and money wouldn't hurt. some thing only a few of us have!
but hey way to get-ur-done!!!
Well I got a lot of little jobs done this weekend, replaced the highbeam dimmer, the old one was NASTY. I attempted to replace the peanut inside the gear selector (where you see the P R N D 2 1) and failed miserably. Why did they make it so darn hard to replace one little bulb?? I'm used to my 5-spd so I still gotta lean down and squint in the dark to see what gear I'm picking :S
Also put my inner fenders back in place, they were in the trunk when I bought the car, the fellow before me had taken much of the car apart in prep for paint, but never got around to getting the job done. I swapped the old headlight with the even older one so at least I've got headlights now. Put my antenna back in and cleaned more of the junk outta the trunk. Next will be tuneup, carb rebuild, exhaust, new mirrors, then start the bodywork... once I've got more money and more free time :S
Any advice on paint colour/scheme?? I'm thinking something dark metallic with flat black on the hood...

PonyGal,
That is the way to do it...just chickenscratch around and clean and lube.
