Title: 8" Rear End Question
Post by: sch1tz0fr3nik on January 07, 2008, 11:14:53 PM
Hey all, I am looking for an 8" Rear end for my new Pinto Mini stock for next year. And came across a late 70's(77 or 78) Wagon with a 6 Cyl.  And was curious if That also has the 8" rear end in it?
Its a little out of the way Just to go look at it and determine.

The 77-78 V6 wagon should have the 8" rear from the factory.
That being said .. someone could have changed it in the last 30 years???
There are NO numbers on the body that would clue you into weither it had an 8 or 6 3/4 from the factory.

Ahh thanks Pintotony
Figure if it has the 8" its well worth the $150 for the car.  I can also Use the Sway Bar which is larger than the Normal Pinto sway bar.

The Wagon bar is .915" VS the regular  bar at .885".

BTW: Is the 'axle' code just for the gears?

Simplest thing to do is call them and see if they will look under it and see if it has a backing plate. No backing plate, its an 8"! unless someone cut a 9" and put it under there and then we will all be drooling for it! At least me anyway!
