Anyone know if a dual sump oil pan will work on a v8 conversion? The engine I have has one and currently cannot find a used pan from a MII. Any thoughts.
Also, to see the trouble my brother in law and I are causing, look at the following site...

thanks, I will look for the other pan. Will a 351w pan work on a 302w? I am looking for cheap alternates

The 302 has a "car" pan (also used on 2WD trucks) and a "4WD truck" pan. You will need the car pan (the sump is at the front of the engine) and, obviously, the accompanying syphon tube/filter. These should be fairly easy to find at any salvage yard or parts store and relatively inexpensive.
I currently have 2 pans, 1 from an 83 tbird and one from an 83 mustang. It is my understanding that the pan needs to have a sharp angle from the sump to the rest of the pan unlike the standard car pan that gently slopes to the sump. This is because of the crossmember on the pinto. This is based on research that I have done to date. That is why I thought I needed to get one from a mustang 2.
Thanks
it may have to be clearanced a bit....with a hammer to clear the steering rack (just don't beat the living snott out of it! ;D) Its close on mine ....but it fits
Since I have 2, I will give it a try (need to save $ anyway) Thanks for the help. I will keep updating the website as we work on the project.
It's an 82 'stang. :) I have a concern about ground clearance since we intend to lower the car.
