I`ve tried searching but didn`t find an answer.
I got a roller cam from a 91 mustang 2.3 that I want to install in my 75 pinto.
After unbolting the motor mounts will the motor go high enough to get the cam out?
Yes, but you might have to remove tha rad. cap or unbolt the rad. to drop it slightly.

Thanks
When changing to a roller cam do you have to change the tower bearings too? I would suspect so due to a different cam shaft.

You should inspect the bearings for wear.
I have installed roller cams in two 2.3Ts, and I have installed a stock 'Pinto' cam in another 2.3T with no issues or need to change the bearings.

I`m going to replace the bearing while I got the cam out just for peace of mind..
I think I`ll try to replace the valve stem seals too.
Anyone got a good way to compress the valve springs with the head inplace?
Doing the seals is a great idea.
It is not that bad to deal with the R/R of sliders without the correct tool, but the roller followers are a little harder to work with. The same tool remove them will do the trick for getting to the seals.
Something like this:

I have made my own, and designed it specificly for the rollers, but it still works great for the sliders too.

There are 2 ways to do valve seals with the head on the engine.
If you have compressed air, you can get an adapter that screws into the sparkplug hole. screw it in, turn on the air, and the valves stay closed.
Then there's the redneck rope trick. Get some nylon rope, thread about 2ft into the cylinder through the sparkplug hole, then rotate the crank with a wrench until it stops.
Then beg, borrow, or buy a screw type valve spring compressor. It'll be fairly obvious how to use it.
LOL, redneck rope trick...never heard it called that.. I got my rope ready and a screw type compressor. I just don`t like the screw type..
I`ll make one of the lever type. They just look safer... I`ve had springs go shooting across the shop with the screw type.
