Title: 2.3L motor "rebuild manual"?
Post by: popbumper on December 18, 2007, 09:13:00 AM
Hi guys:

I know that there are endless amounts of printed matter available for small block chevy motor rebuilds, but does anything exist for rebuilding the 2.3L motor? I'm not someone who has lots of experience doing such a thing, it sure would be nice to have a "starting point". I'm considering doing this backwards - building a motor first, THEN finding a car to drop it in. A motor takes up a lot less room, and it would be a good experience to do one.

Sorry if these are dumb questions - I did a frame off resto on a 1957 Chevy, but never pulled the motor and tranny apart, so I'm not entirely clueless.

Bill:

  Thanks!

First book shows as the Chilton "Pinto/Bobcat" manual by Strasman

Second book - I can't resolve this one on yahoo or google. Do you have a title for it?

The first is a "Haynes", far superior to Chiltons.

Second is "Pony Stock, Mini Stock, Race Tech."

Bill

And now Haynes & Chiltopn are one & the same since Haynes & Chilton merged a couple years ago. I'd have to agree with Bill though when it comes to the older manuals. I have both a Chilton & Haynes Pinto manuals and the Haynes is sooo much more informative.
