When i changed the engine in my 79 for some reason i only marked some of the vacuum lines. Most of them ive gotten figured out, but some of them i havnt. So if anyone has a vacuum diagram for a 79 pinto with 2.3/auto and im pretty sure its non cali, could you please please please scan it and send me a copy? This car has for the most part been unbutchered, all the lines are there except one i cant find, but i failed to mark all of them. I think the most important one is the one that controls the EGR and the choke, It has to have vacuum to the choke, but that is only for the fast idle i think. It runs like crap with the choke closed and no fast idle.
PintoGuy76, Lets see if this comes out.

Hey, might you know if this would be the same for a manual '80? Mine is all screwed up as well. Thanks a lot for posting this!

Thanks high_horse, but those dont look anything like how mines setup. Almost looks like it could be for a V6 maybe. Mine has alot more stuff than that, and has three lines off the vacuum canister. One is a really big hose that goes to the electronically controlled bowl vent on the carb. The other two are smaller one has to be a vacuum inlet. the other runs to a one-way valve (cant call the name of that thing off hand, its half white and have black and only lets vacuum go one way) and then it splits off and connect into a thermal valve of some sort, then one line goes to the egr and the other to the choke. I dont know where the vacuum canister gets its vacuum at tho. there are also about 4 lttle vacuum things on the breather, 3 on the side (two are green one is kinda clear) and then one on the bottom) i mostly found where those went but i cant figure out where the top vacuum line from the PCV goes. The bottom one goes into the intake, and the top one i dont know. then there is one stray vac line that i cant figure out where it goes. There is also one tht goes from the base of the carb, to the distributor. that one i know is right, and its probably all i really need, but id like to have the EGR, and the choke working and possibly that valve in the breather tube that allows hot air from off the exhaust manifold to go into the carb. I think it would help the car run nicer while warming up and possibly reduce warmup time. I wont have to worry about that once i go to a 2.3 turbo. Its definantly gonna need it. That auto trans makes that thing a slug!
I had the same problem with my 78 Crusing wagon. The car had been hacked by its previous owners. I used my all original 79 wagon and copied it for the most part. The only difference being that the 79 is a 4spd and the crusing wagon is an Auto. THe only difference I found was the transmission line which I have a separate picture of. I used pictures of the 79 at first and then brought the car home to fill in what I could not decipher from the pics. I still have the pics on my laptop which I will Email you shortly as I do not have the time tonight to reduce them all to post them here. The 79 is at my Mom's house but I do have the crusing wagon here at the house to help you if you have any questions. I hope they help.....
