Title: Runabout
Post by: justford on December 14, 2007, 04:20:02 PM
Refresh my memory (or whats left of it) concerning the Runabout model. What options if any were just for the Runabout and did the Runabout have any exterior decals saying Runabout??  :lost:

Thanks for any help.

Its got an exterior badge on the metal between the rear windows and the hatch (Im not sure what its called) that says "runabout." Im not sure if that was an option or if it was stock.

As for what options were only avaliable to the runabout... Im not sure. Maybe the hatch.

I am curious if all Runabout cars had the exterior badge or if that was an option as I see hatchback cars with and without the badge. Maybe others will enlighten me??

Thanks for your reply.

The Runabout was the hatchback option. and my 1980 does not have the badge. but my 72 and 76 do. and all 3 are hatchback runabouts.

That answers my question as mine is also an 80 model and it does not have the badge on it. Thanks for the help.

My 75 has the runabout name tag on the rear portion of the roof on eachg side. As far as I can remember I don't recall any other badging.

I'm pretty sure that the RUNABOUT emblem was deleted in 1977...

Justford,  The long narrow Mustang II console will fit and look great IF you chop off the first few inches OR take out the stock pinto console and the 2 floor brackets

that would be good Q in a new thread. I've seen lots of console used from mustang ll to torus. and others

Here's a pic of the 76 Mustang II console in my 78 Runabout. I haven't mounted permanent yet... considering whether I want to cut off the front to put the Pinto console back in and I want to add a new shift boot to fill the hole for a better look/fit...
