I saw this picture on "how it works" yesterday and I really like the paint style. My car is due for a paint job within the next few months so im trying to get some ideas.
it's the stallion package first offered in 76 as I recall...
I wonder how it would look with a dark blue instead of a gray.... Maybe Ill repaint it in photoshop sometime.
Hey, that paint style would look great in any color combination, FYI those stallion decals on the fenders are currently available from www.phoenixgraphix.com they are about $60 bucks a pair. go forit!!!
I think it would look pretty good too. Does anyone know how the back is painted? I would imagine the hatch and rear near the lights and license plate being black.
The black was flat or semigloss.

I'm not sure if this is actual factory paint but...
best pics I could find that look to be an example of the Stallion Paint scheme... from all sides ;D
dug these from the Pinto picture archives I have...
I had a '76 Mustang II "Stallion". ALL the chrome is black except the headlight bezels, and grille surround. This was a '76 ONLY option package, and was available on Mustangs, Mavericks, and Pintos. The factory Stallion colors were, Red, Yellow, Orange, & Silver.
The black was semigloss, with a 1/8" pinstripe border. That would look AWESOME in a Navy Blue, or a bright metallic Blue. There are two different styles of decals, red with orange, and orange with red. The latter was only on red cars.
Here's the Red/Orange decal image from www.PhoenixGraphix.com

The Orange/Red Decals just reverse colors. (BTW they offer Mustang & Pinto decals) OH yeah, the "horse" looks to the front of the car, just FYI
*saves pics* Just what I was looking for! And Ill take note of how the paint was. Thanks!
Ive been saving just about every picture I come across thats given me an idea about a paint job. I was thinking this color or a little darker. I think it is a blue ford offered stock. I dont remember whos car this is but it looks nice :)

Now that Ive got all of this figured out Im going to have a hard time waiting to get the car painted.

Hey SMEED,
The Photo of the Blue 1973 Pinto is from a recient Ebay auntion...

It looks nicer in the picture than in person. It's the one from the United Ford Owners swap meet at the Ohio State Fairgrounds this past november.
I was thinking of doing something simular on my 73 as well. The factory color of my car is the blue you have posted but it is not nearly as nice as that car. I plan on painting my 73 the same factory color. But before I paint my car, which will be some time yet, I will rattle can my idea to see if I like it. If I don't like it, it is not a big loss. I am interesting to see how your car will turn out now.

Hello Mat,
I agree!!!
Not a bad Pinto... Just not that good either.
I saw the blue 73 on my way to get my Mustard 1971 1/2 Pinto.
It is inside the house KINDA???
Anyway it is much rougher that the photos reveal...
From Pintony
I want a stallion :( How hard would it be to paint that sort of thing?
Okay, final decision. I'm no longer going with a single color paint job. I didn't even know this paint job style existed. Deffinitly an eye catcher! I can't wait to get my car painted now. :)
Ive read the article about pintos with that picture more times than I can remember and the first time I noticed it was when I posted. Im not sure how I missed it :P
