Alright - I'm going crazy. My wife will d*** near disown me if I do this, but I REALLY have the fever.
I used to own a '79 wagon. I LOVED that car, I turned it into a cruising wagon before getting rid of it. I would PREFER another wagon, but I really don't want to take the time searching right now.
I have an opportunity (possibly) local to buy a 1971 hatchback, described as follows:
"71 pinto, with 67 mustang 8-inch rear with 3.55 gears, 67 mustang front spindles and brakes, had a 289 and C4 in it, was running and driving on the street. The 289 blew up and it was taken out. I have ALL the parts, motor mounts oil pan ETC and a 302 roller motor to put it all back together. im asking $700"
I just REALLY, REALLY REALLY think this is a super deal, and man, the possibility of building a V8 Pinto would just get my blood boiling. PLEASE, dear friends - talk me into this, tell me it's a great idea, tell me not to let it get away.....I'm depending on you....

It is Christmas and i could not think of a much better present. ;)

Tell her your man title is at risk if you pass up this buy :P
When is the next time your going to have access to a deal like that?
It's my thought... if you have to be talked into it... it's probally best left alone...
You did mention you would PREFER another wagon... if you don't have the time right now, put it off untill you are ready.
I have 5 Pinto's myself and if I could go back in time I know I shouldn't have bought 2 of them and a third I really should have looked for a better car but was chompin' at the bit so here I sit... a couple minor regrets later wishing I would have been a little more patient.
Well, I have owned two hatchbacks and one wagon - loved the wagon the best. What I thought was great about this one is that it's ALREADY setup for an 8 cylinder, has the rear end, has 5 lug axles, saving me lots of work. Heck, I could build it, enjoy it, and then find that wagon.....
On the other hand, these are really tough decisions....I also think building a heavily hopped up 4 cylinder would be neat, too....
Arggghh....I think I'll give the guy a call and at least go look at it.

ask lots of questions on the conversion. what support did they ad to the sub-frame. what springs did they stick in there... how hot did it run with the radiator... v8 pintos are allot of fun but they take some know how to keep the rest of the car from coming apart.
however, it sound like it would have been done right, if the rest of the car is set as good as what u listed
