Saw this today. The front suspention started to give it away, then with a little more snooping.....
Looks like it has room for a 2.3T and a FMIC. Hmmmmmm.......
It's listed at $14,900.

This car is a reproduction. My buddy hauled 2 or 3 of these in from I believe Mich. in the late 70's. The local Ford dealer was selling them. I remember him telling me that is was a fly by night outfit that was putting them together. Also that he hauled 1 back to them. Interesting that there are a few of them still out there. Where did you find this at ?
Dennis
I do believe it is called a Shay Reproduction. An old girlfriend's father had one, it was all new back in about 80. It was all Pinto running gear with a repro body etc. The guy told me people were amazed because it could keep up with traffic on the So Cal freeways. The blue oval looks like a Ford piece until you get close then you notice it says Shay in Ford style script.

The shop that HAD it called it a 'Pinto' (I would not call it a 'reproduction' anything, to me it's more of an 'immitation'), but yes, it WAS a 1980 Shay. I put that in the proper 'tense' because it sold today. Connie went with me to take another look at it and it was GONE; day late and a.....
The sad part is the new owner is planning to RUIN it with a 302. I can see 2.3 EFI, even 2.3T EFI, just to give it a little more go, but that car AND WHEELS + TIRES are just not made for stuff like that (it would be fun to enter the 'smoke show' at Carlisle with it....).
I offered to buy it after it gets hacked up; the good part is I should be able to get it for much less.
Bill
Wow a 302 is very practical for a car like that..... :| I cant imagine the car being very heavy in the front and I cant imagine the guy getting any traction.
my very first car i built from the ground up. was a 26 model t. all pinto - the mustang fox rear end. 68$ for the steel for the frame / 20$ for the 77 pinto/ free 1926 model T (tall T) /5,000 hours and traded it for a 71 boss 351 mustang after only driving it for a week. dumb move!!!
used every single part off the pinto though didn't buy any thing to make it run and drive. what a fun car. even just premiered brown.
That's it Shay
