Hey everyone. I just bought some American Racing 14"X7" 4 lug wheels for my 74. I'm going to replace the 205/60 13s currently on the car. I have a T-5 installed and am thinking about using 225/60 14's. I have a 3:55 stock :fastcar:rear. Do you think those tires will fit?
Joe
Pangra74, They may rub the leaf springs.....does 7"" mean wide rim of outset??? The tires will fit.

The 225/60 14's. are 2 inches taller than what you have.
This will make your Pinto LOOK much different that what you are used to seeing.
The 14-7 rims should be fine with those tires.
Im running 225 45 16 on the rear ofd my Green Pinto.
with 16 X 8" rims.
Pangra74,
And i will say that getting some bubble under rear end does make for a comfortable ride. Plus it is a little easier to see over the hood. : 8)

I'm pretty sure thay are standard offset. Most of the tire should be outboard from the axle. I guess I will find out soon enough. I think they are only about a half inch taller than the original B/78 13's from the 70's. I'm going to put two on ther rear, see how it does in overdrive, then if they fit on the front with no rubbing I may just do all four. Once I'm set with some 14" tires I will be selling a set of 5 Pinto factory "Stallion" wheels, 13" X 5.5" (I think they are 5.5"), four of which have BF Goodrich 205/60 TA's mounted on them with less than 2000 miles on them. Included will be factory center caps.

The largest (60-14") tires that will fit on the front of my tan car are 205 60-14's, but I had 215 60 14's on the front of my V8 car. It depends on the rim as much as the tire (the tan car has Granada rotors, and that's the same as having as different offset wheels).

Back in the day I had P225/60r-14 mounted on 14x8 alum slot wheels. They fit just fine. I won't do it again without a 302 under the hood. They sure ate the hp to turn them.
I've never had clearance issues in the front, until I ran 215-70/14's They rubbed the inner fender seam at full lock.
I'm thinking of changing to 215-60/14 on the rear, and 195-60/14 on the front. I like seeing meat on the road. :fastcar:
My autocrossing friend upgraded to an Impreza, and I can't get his cast off 195-60 R- compound tires anymore :(
Well,
I test fitted the 14x7 wheels and they clear just fine. It looks like the offset is stock with most of the extra width of the tire being farther out in the wheelwells. Will look pretty nice. Now I'll order some tires.
