Title: The Hemi In The Barn
Post by: FlyerPinto on December 07, 2007, 07:06:00 AM
There is a nice book out entitled "The Hemi in the Barn: More Great Stories of Automotive Archaeology." It's about folks finding old cars, some of noteworthy history, some not, in barns and out of the way places. There is a story about a Pinto racer in this volume. An earlier volume, entitled "The Cobra in the Barn" has already been published. It's fun to read, and I thought folks might want to hear about it, seeing as one of ours is included. Great Christmas present for yourself also...

It starts on page 97 and runs through page 104. The article is entitled "The Pinto with a Pedigree" and was written by Don Sherman, listed as Technical Editor of Automobile Magazine. It's a fun article, and though I don't race and have very little interest in racing, the fact the story was about a Pinto made it interesting enough for me. Especially considering how I came across my Bobcat. I wonder how many of us Pinto folks have worthwhile stories about finding our cars? Anybody care to chime in?

All of my cars are awaiting new life.  A 67 Mustang hardtop, a 69 F100, a 73 Pinto sedan, a 76 Mustang II Ghia, a 77 Mustang II coupe, and a 78 F150 4x4, all sitting at my dad's property in southern AZ.  Then I also have a 77 Pinto wagon, a 78 Pinto sedan, and a 79 Pinto hatch, all sitting behind my uncle's house in Tucson.  Just need to get back there.

FlyerPinto:

I was in Barnes and Noble about a month ago and picked up this book on a lark. As I was thumbing through it, I found the Pinto story and was thrilled to find it tucked inside! In fact, I bought the book for that story alone, though the other content is very intriguing. I highly recommend this book!

I've almost finished the book (I only get to read in short spurts these days) and I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first volume, "The Cobra in the Barn", which I ordered last week. I think we should put together some Pinto stories for our own book. I used to own a small publishing company and have published a few children's books I wrote. I think it might be a lot of fun. Any thoughts folks?
