Title: Anti-freeze check?
Post by: Pintony on November 10, 2007, 04:45:38 PM
Hello Group,
It is that time of year for most of us...
Went out today and started up 4 Pintos to get them hot enough to test-replace the coolant today.
Have you checked yours??
4 Pintos running at the same time.

Had to un-cover and pull the Purple Pinto and the Mustard Pinto out of the garage. so not to bump the paint.

I added a cheap-o radiator overflow kit.  Fits great on the driver's side of my 73 1600.

Great Idea, atleast then I wouldn't lose antifreeze to the ground when the car is sitting after I drive it. I hate the open cooling system.

Hey Starliner,
Yes a great idea!!!
I would personally have a hard time drilling holes into a Pinto like you did... :embarassed:
Look at a really ugly 1600 engine bay.

Hello Pintoguy76,
The engine is still out of the Lime green Pinto.
Have been too buisy to finish.
I will push the Green Pinto out tomorrow to get the block painted. and work on getting most of the other parts into primer in the shop.
Darn I hate these short days!!!
I need to to just go out and work until 3am a few nights to get it finished.

P.S. The Mustard Pinto is a re-paint done by a rod shop. FLAWLESS describes the paint...

Almost flawless 28,000 mile Pinto I hated to paint, but I wanted the BEST 1971 1/2 hatch in the world!!!!!
For some reason I can not get thw photo to load in this topic.
So I posted the photo of my Mustard 1971 1/2 in the for Classified Pinto's for sale section.
I will delete it in a day or two to save space on the site.

That is a nice little overflow arrangement you have there. I would assume that if you felt it was good enough to drill some holes for then it was a good choise for an early application. Where can other early guys get that bottle...what is it's number?
And remember guys, Distilled water!!!

It's sold at your local auto parts store. Nothing special about it, just a regular aftermarket overflow bottle.

Ohh!

Yeah, I remember the bottle from whenI worked at Advance Auto. I think the brand is Interdinamics, but not sure. Should be around 15 to 20 bux.
