i am talking all around
body front end engine tranny?
i have a 73 2.0 4 speed and am thinking of looking for 74 same set up. but i like the way the 73 look. and my body has some rust on it plus i want to do the 4 to 5 lug conversion
The only thing you'll notice different is the bumpers. The 73 has short bumpers where the 74 has tall ones. I have a 74 wagon with a 2.3 and a 4 speed. Id go with that instead of the 2.0.
Big differences between the two:
71-73, small bumpers, straight radiator support, different front end
74-80, Big '5mph' bumpers, radiator support pushed further forward to allow for longer 2.3 ohc motor, more commonly upgraded front end (this is the popular front end that rodders like so much, same as the Mustang II with minor differences in track width. This is the front end that also has readily available aftermarket support because of that fact.) The hood latch is different, and the grille may be as well.
before 74, the 2.3 was not available; after 73 the 1.6 was no longer available.
The guages are different, but only in appearance. There may be other subtle differences that I have not covered, and there are many posts on here that cover some of those little differences.
Good luck!

The grille is different in how it mounts but it looks the same.
ok then the fenders are the same and head light housings? i like the 73 front end but i need the ability to mod and the is able to be achived with the 74.
Front fenders and headlight housings are the same, yes. Front bumpers are different.

'73 had a red "Fasten Seatbelt" warning light on the dashboard. '74 does not. It has the seatbelt interlock instead. The engine will turn, but not start unless the driver seatbelt is fastened (this also includes the passenger seatbelt if someone is sitting in the passenger seat).
