Hello Group,
I thought I would do a segment on how to do some repairs on the Pinto fiberglass fan shroud.
These repairs will go from Mild to Wild.
From Pintony
Here R some photos of the early Pinto fan shroud.
The first one had some cracks and a broken piece.
These cracks occured while changing a starter...
Remember how I said to jack the engine up?
Well... I forgot to check 1 little detail.
The 2.0 has a 2 blade fan.
NOTICE!!!!!
Make sure the fan is NOT pointing straight up B4U start jacking engine. :'(
Anyway the 2nd shroud had a BIG piece missing up top.. I'll bet the same thing happened???

Here we have a part torn out on the mounting area...
Notice how I scuffed the area around the dammaged part with 80 grit sandpaper...
I use plain old masking tape to form a mold for the epoxy.
I use JB WELD and It is self leveling so U have to prop the part the correct angle to get the epoxy to stay where U want.
I have tried the putty type epoxy.. I have to say it "I do not like it for this kind of repair...
Here is the repair after sitting overnight.
The tape just pulls off leaving a slight texture...
Here is the repair from the other side.
After running over with a file and a coat of matte black paint the repair will be as strong as the original and quite un-noticeable.
Here is a 2.0 shroud that I took off a complete wreck of a Pinto.
It is in 4 pieces and has varrious bits missing...
When I am done it will be as good as new.
That is my Puppy Roxie,,, She loves to hamm it up!!!
Here is a bad break and a crack that is partially hidden by the Caution sticker.
This funky apparatus is what I needed to hold the parts until the epoxy dries.
