I was reading an article about putting a Vovlo head on the ford 2.3l. Has anyone tried this? I have included the link i was reading about it. It was done on a Merkur. According to the estimates it flows almost as well as the Esslinger head. I imagine with a little poritng it could outflow it. Although the part about chamber changing had me a little confused. Any info?
Thanks

My friend Sam does custom turbo's for the 2.3l engines used in the Pinto. He is currently looking for a volvo head but the heads with the numbers needed for a sucessful conversion are very hard to find here in Idaho.
I work on the Volvo b234 engine a lot, and have wondered if this was possible myself, the engines appear to be shockingly similar. As long as everything lines up should not be a hard to adapt, how ever the Volvo head has the the distributer mounted on the back end of the head and driven off the cam shaft, which could create some issues. I currently have a 8 valve b234 head I can post pictures of if that would be of any help. The 16 valve heads are typically much harder to find,I have been looking for one for several months in the salvage yards in my area.
I have 4 B234F 16V heads & 1 complete engine all for sale..

Very in depth site with photos, but I am not sure where he is in this project as it has been a while since it's been updated. Also, many of the links on the front page are dead. I have one of these heads, but haven't decided if this is the way I'll go with my 77 CW yet or not.
I think I will stick to a mild 2.3t with an A4LD so the wife can drive it while I drive the 78 or the 73 sedans.
