I have balanced the engine and the drive shaft. I it hard to run 2 1/4 exhaust pipe with this large weight hanging off the transmission.

I remember my old 76 having this weight on it as well. I cant remember if the 76 i have now has one or not, or my 74. I always wondered what it was for. Im not sure i switched it over when i changed the transmission in that old one i had. It seemed fine without it to me.

I think it acts as a harmonic dampener of some sorts. My t-5 also had one, if my memory is correct, and I never reinstalled it and I've had no problems yet.
