Got the brakes, and fuel system rebuilt this week and the ignition system repaired. About ready to start the interior, clutch and real engine work (on the bright side the engine still has great compression). Any tips on the interior, the door panels are salvageable, with a little tlc, the rear window deck is thrashed and the seats, well see the pictures below. What did the original rear window deck look like, (carpet, no carpet, etc)? I have a complete set of seats from a 77 Mustang 2 I may try to use, anyone tried that yet? Head liner and carpet are easy, not sure what to do about the dash. A dash cap appears to be the easy fix, but examining my options any ideas?
What I did for my rear deck was use wood paneling. I had some in the garage & the old panel was completely destroyed so I figured what the hell, it was worth a try. Anyways, I painted the backside with gloss black spray paint & installed it. Turned out great. My seats are also trashed so I just plan on getting a pair from an escort or tempo. The mustang II seats should fit since it's basically a Pinto in disguise. You might need to use your seat bracksts, not too sure on that.
The back panel is made of some sort of cardboard composite, kinda like MDF I think. Mine still looks good, and it doesn't look like there was ever carpet on it. Ford musta used up the budget on those top quality seats instead ;D
