...now every time I visit the site, the line "I hate Illinois Nazis" comes to mind....
8)
Whaaa...
I'm slow, so explain to someone that did not get it.
me too....not understanding?
;D
It's an allusion to "The Blues Brothers" movie. 8)
The leader of the Illinois Nazi faction drove a red Pinto wagon (it eventually winds up falling out of the sky and dropping through the pavement in the street).
One of Elwood's lines in the movie is "I hate Illinois Nazis."
ok i understand now!
ok.....
If you haven't seen the movie, you need to watch it (some may say suffer through it). It has many well-known jazz musicians (Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Donald "Duck" Dunn, etc. etc. etc. with cameo appearances). Carrie Fisher (of Princess Leah fame) is Jake's deranged girlfriend who blows up everything.
The mall scene is classic because they blatantly mention all of the movie's sponsors in one scene (much as Mike Meyers does in the original Wayne's World movie). Plus, the understated attitudes...ie: "I broke my watch." As they spin wildly out of control through the mall.
The underlying theme of the gags in the movie is "chaos = normalcy." Crazy stuff constantly happens and the characters pass it off nonchalantly as every-day life.
The line "I hate Illinois Nazis" is delivered in that manner as the Blues Brothers are delayed on their "mission from God" by a Nazi rally.
here is the voice clip of it lol

Thankfully they picked the ultimate car for the bluesmobile.
