On my 75 where the heater hose comes out of the intake manifold and goes back to the heater, is there some type of metal tubing used or is it all rubber hose.
I just have a bypass hose that somebody stuck on so I have nothing to compare it to. As I understand the hose comes out of the intake manifold, back to the heater, out of the heater and back to the water pump.
Just another step on getting back on the road.
thanks

They had a metal tubes, but if you don't have them just the rubber hoses will be fine.
Depending on the year, the heater core could have 5/8" for both hoses, or 5/8" for one and 3/4" for the other.

Hey hellfirejim:
Attached is a pic of the heater hose, tube, etc. for a typical Pinto arrangement.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies, it is exactly what i am looking for.

There is a metal line that routes the hose away from the breather and throttle cable and stuff. The water comes out of the intake (or in, whichever way it works) then goes to the carburetor choke thermostat using a short section of heater hose. Then from there a short section of rubber hose connects the choke thermostat to the metal line which then runs down and out of the way of moving parts and then up the side of the valve cover and then connects to the long section of heater hose. I've considered deleting the choke thermostat altogether but i'd have to find a fitting to change on the intake so it points out instead of up, or else it would kink the hose going from the intake to the metal line. Thats something you may want to look into when you hook your heater hoses back up. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow if I can remember to help you see what I mean. It may be a little hard to figure out what I mean without seeing it. Hope this makes it a lil easier for you.
Here are a couple of pictures of what I ended up doing to the heater hoses. I hadn't really noticed until I took the aircleaner off that the choke is missing in action. Obviously this eliminates the hot water choke.

Still looking for a better breather for the valve cover.
