Title: Metutchen NJ Assembly Plant
Post by: oldcarpierre on September 22, 2007, 09:27:09 PM
My Pinto was built at the Metutchen NJ plant.  Is this plant still around?  If so, what are they building?  What was built at that plant before and after the Pinto?

Mustangs and Torinos were built there in the sixties and early seventies. The 70 and 71 Torino convertible was built only at this plant.

Ranger pickups and Mazda B series trucks were built there in the 90's and early 2000's. Ford closed the plant in 2004 in it's first round of restructuring.

I think it was called the Edison Assembly plant when it was closed. Formerly Metuchen.

I have been away from the site for many weeks.  A lot going on.  I am sad to hear that the Metuchen/Edison plant is no longer, but It gives me some comfort to knw that it survived for another 30 years after Stupinto was assembled (born?).
