Where is the best place to pick up a switched 12 volt power supply? As in turns off with the key??? ???
I am doing some rewiring this weekend and I need this answered?
Thanks i appreciate the responses.

what do you need to do? what is the power supply for??
Just a 12 v supply so that I can use some toggle switches to energize some power relays..
jim
surely somebody has had to do this before. i could really use some help here....
jim
I normally just tap into the fuses with a bent flat connector (on the fused side).
Bill
Sorry bill I missed this. OK that will work for now. Would like a more permanent arraignment.
Ideas anyone???

What type of relays do you want to trigger? Most relays use low amp draw for triggering the main circuit/heavier amp draw. Bill's suggestion would work fine for the triggering side of the relay, the load itself would have to be hard wired to something more substantial, for example the battery side of the starter solenoid. Whatever you do, MAKE SURE YOU PUT A FUSE IN THE MAIN LOAD FEED CIRCUIT!!! Nasty surprises could await you if you don't!
Each of the relays main power has it's own inline fuse and direct power supply. I am just using the 12vs to trigger the relays. Standard 30amp 12v relay.
Thanks for the reply

Under the dash, to the left side of the radio, you will find a yellow connector on a purple wire w/orange hash marks that has a place for 3 'bullet' type plugs. It is used for the relay coil for the optional rear window defogger. Its there whether or not the car has the rear defog. Its fairly low amp capacity- the actual heater elements get power thru the relay, directly from a fuse link at the battery junction on the starter relay. At least thats how it is on a 77 -79
