Title: Strarter ring on fly wheel
Post by: RapidRichy on September 11, 2007, 07:54:12 AM
New to the forum Guys. Dose any body know if they make a new starter ring for the fly wheel for the 2.3? The engine & trany are out of a 78 mustang II, but they are in my 76 pinto S.W. Thanks Richy

The starter ring CAN be replaced. But my question to you is WHY? A new Flywheel (if it's a stick) is under $30!!!!
When I put the Turbo Motor in my car the First time I just bought a new flywheel and it was only $32.03 after Tax. The part number is "ST 703" (I've got the recipt in front of me) at Federated Auto Parts. I've got 49 passes (at the track) and 15,000 miles and haven't had a problem, EVER, with it.

Hello RapidRichy,
:welcome:
If you R having trouble with the starter grinding and not starting??
U mostlikely haVE AN AUTOMATIC  tranny???
IF SO?? Then you have a starter drive problem not a flywheel problem.
Re-builders use the CHEEPEST parts available. Try buying a starter drive for the starter you have and see what happens.
